Ranking of richest candidates includes businessman who paid for jet trip to Toffoli

Pastore declared assets of R$677.74 million to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). He is the richest politician among the candidates for the Senate, according to a survey by Estadão with data reported to the Electoral Court.

The ranking is not definitive, as not all applications are based on the TSE, and a number of candidates alleged errors in their declarations. Disregarding billionaire assets and candidates who stated that there were mistakes in the values ??reported, Pastore is the richest.

Luiz Pastore owns the jet that took minister Dias Toffoli, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), and lawyer Augusto Arruda Botelho, defender of one of the directors of Banco Master, to watch the Libertadores final in Lima, Peru, in November 2025.

On the same day, Toffoli became rapporteur of the Master case at the Supreme Court. He then left the process after an internal crisis at the STF related to his performance and participation in a company that did business with banker Daniel Vorcaro's brother-in-law.

Pastore is a businessman and president of the Board of Directors of Grupo Ibrame, a company in the metallurgical sector. He is known in Brasília's political circles, but has almost always acted behind the scenes.

"I am a person who is a businessman and I am making my assets available to provide science, so that I can work for entrepreneurship and businesspeople in Brazil. There are very few people working for this," Pastore told Estadão.

In 2022, when he was a candidate for substitute on Flávia Arruda's ticket to the Senate for the Federal District, he declared that he had R$453.6 million in assets. In four years, assets grew by 49%.

Pastore had been a member of the MDB since 1986 and changed parties and electoral domicile to run for PL in Tocantins in this election.

“I am 77 years old, I was a substitute senator for Espírito Santo twice and I decided that this is the time when I have to dedicate myself to the fourth most important state in the Union”, he stated, citing data on economic growth.

Next, in the ranking of candidates with the greatest assets, comes Antídio Lunelli, candidate for the Senate for the MDB in Santa Catarina, with assets worth R$613.22 million. He is currently a state deputy and was once mayor of Jaraguá do Sul (SC). Assets increased 57% compared to the last elections, when declared R$390 million.

According to Lunelli, his assets predate his entry into politics in 2016, and come mainly from the Lunelli Group, which includes a textile industry in Santa Catarina and today employs more than 5,200 people. Lunelli also has investments in agribusiness. In 2024, he was the fifth richest politician in Brazil.

“I’m proud to have built my career with a lot of work,” said the candidate. “I think that my experience, as someone who was a settler, a worker and opened his own business, can contribute to the debate about the future we want for Brazil.”

Otaviano Pivetta (Republicans), governor of Mato Grosso and candidate for re-election, also appears among the richest candidates, with assets of R$575.68 million. The value increased 52% compared to that declared in 2022, of R$378.9 million. When contacted, he did not respond to the report's questions.
