Quaest: Majority supports end of 6x1 scale and says they would use free time to rest

Debate Session - End of the 6x1 scale in Brazil. Andressa Anholete/Agência Senado Quaest survey released this Wednesday (15) shows that 69% of Brazilians are in favor of ending the 6x1 scale, against 22% who say they are against it. The percentage in favor varied little from July 2025 (69%), rising to 72% in December 2025 and 68% in May 2026. ? Understand the main working hours formats in Brazil The proposal, which ends the six-day working day with one day off, is already known to the majority of the population. 75% of those interviewed said they knew that the Chamber approved the end of the 6x1 scale and that the text is now being processed in the Senate, while 25% found out only when responding to the survey. Despite majority support, the population is divided on the practical effects of the change: 50% believe that, if approved, they will work fewer hours per week, while 45% do not believe this and 5% were unable to answer. Quaest also asked what interviewees intended to do with their free time, if the proposal is approved. The survey was commissioned by Genial Investimentos and interviewed 2,004 voters between the 10th and 13th of July.
