Conceived and managed by Luar Grinberg and Marina Cavalcanti, Café Coragem promotes artistic, cultural and political events led by women and people from the Cuír community — a term adapted from “queer” to the country language. Despite the expansion, Quadrilha Coragem's proposal is to maintain a popular, inclusive and open festival to rural and urban communities in the region. Music and square dancing open to the public The program will feature music throughout the night with the band Forró das Cumade, made up exclusively of women. The main attraction will be the Quadrilha Coragem, with 12 pairs of dancers. The presentation will be open to public participation. The party will also feature traditional June festival games adapted to the country folk universe. Among them is the Climão Dance, in which participants need to keep a lemon balanced between their foreheads while dancing. Another activity is Correio do Amô, with anonymous messages read during the party. There will also be a Caipira Fashion Competition, which invites the public to present creative versions of traditional costumes, and the Casório Cuír, a reinterpretation of typical wedding ceremonies of the villages. The traditional bonfire, called "Fogayra" at the event, will also be present. The space will be used to raise awareness about fire prevention, led by a pair of firefighters. All attractions will be translated into Libras. Free event takes place on August 22nd. Marina Cavalcanti Typical foods and activities for children The cuisine will be provided by local producers, who will offer vegan versions of traditional June festival foods. Children will have an exclusive area with activities such as fishing, a gift stall, a clown's mouth and face painting. The event is open to residents of Nova Friburgo and other cities in the region, as well as visitors. The proposal is to bring together popular culture, diversity and coexistence in free programming. The event brings together music, square dancing, games, vegan cuisine and activities for children.
