Ponta das Lajes Disclosure/Water of Manaus The Ponta das Lajes Water Treatment Plant (PDL), in the east of Manaus, is undergoing a scheduled shutdown this Tuesday (18). In order for the service to be carried out safely, the unit will be switched off from 6am to 6pm. As a result, neighborhoods in the East and part of the North of the capital will have their water supply temporarily interrupted. Maintenance is part of the actions carried out by Águas de Manaus to reinforce the operational safety of the system during the dry period. The dealership scheduled the execution of more than 21 services in parallel during maintenance. Among the activities are the installation of new water capture pumps, maintenance at electrical energy substations, as well as cleaning and inspection services at the Water Treatment Station (ETA) and in operational units located in the area supplied by Ponta das Lajes. "We are preparing for another dry period and, therefore, we took advantage of the scheduled shutdown to concentrate this set of important services in a single moment, reinforcing the safety and reliability of the system. Carrying out activities during the day is also a safety measure for our teams, as it allows us to carry out interventions, with better visibility and monitoring conditions. These are precautions that are part of our preventive maintenance routine and help us keep the system prepared for periods of greater demand", highlights Águas de Manaus Operations Manager, Jessica Candeia. After the service is completed, at 6pm, supply will begin to gradually resume. As water needs to travel through the entire distribution network to reach homes, the normalization process can take up to 48 hours after the end of maintenance. Therefore, some neighborhoods may only have their supply back to normal until Thursday night (20). Since last Friday (14), Águas de Manaus has been communicating to the population about the scheduled shutdown, with the aim of allowing residents of the impacted areas to organize themselves and reserve water for the period. The recommendation is that customers have a sufficient quantity to meet basic needs during the interruption and gradual resumption of supply. During the service at Ponta das Lajes Station, Águas de Manaus teams will be mobilized with water tankers to supply priority points, such as hospitals, Basic Health Units (UBSs) and schools located in the impacted areas. The concessionaire also advises residents to make conscious use of water during this period, prioritizing essential activities and avoiding, whenever possible, actions such as washing clothes, vehicles and sidewalks. The measure helps to use available water more efficiently while the system is brought back to normal. Emergency situations must be reported immediately on 0800-092-0195 (WhatsApp and SAC) or via the concessionaire's social networks. Return of supply Disclosure/Aguas de Manaus
