Operation 'Critical Point' targets criminals in 74 cities and arrests more than 130 in Pará The Civil Police of Pará carried out more than 100 search and seizure warrants and also arrest warrants in 74 municipalities in Pará this Thursday (20). At least 40 people were arrested. The task force is part of the seventh phase of Operation Critical Point, which involved more than 400 police officers. The objective is to dismantle criminal groups and curb crimes of extortion, drug trafficking and homicides within the state. According to police, the suspects were located in urban and rural areas of the most populous regions of the state. In the Castanhal region, for example, there were 16 arrests. In the southeast, there were 15 arrests in Parauapebas and another 13 in Marabá. There were also arrests in the western region of the state and in other cities. According to Chief Hennison Jacob, head of the Interior Police Directorate, the operation was launched in places where many crimes were being recorded, with extortion being one of the main focuses of the operation. More than two kilos of drugs, three vehicles and 50 ammunition of different calibers were seized. The investigations remain ongoing. ? The warrants were carried out on Wednesday (20) in Belém and Castanhal, in the Metropolitan Region, in addition to Augusto Corrêa, Ipixuna do Pará and in the district of Marudá, in Marapanim. During the operation, one of the suspects shot at the agents and died in the exchange of gunfire, according to police. The suspects were involved in coordinating and carrying out violent actions within the state, such as drug trafficking, murders and extortion of traders. Those being investigated are linked to a Rio faction, according to the Organized Crime Repression Division. Search and seizure warrants were also executed at addresses linked to the targets.
