In the stolen material, 13 .50 machine guns and eight 7.62 caliber machine guns were identified, weapons considered to be of large caliber.
Two .50 HB Browning machine guns are still missing. Both weapons have anti-aircraft power, meaning they can shoot down helicopters, for example.
When the information became public, the Army stated that the stolen weapons were "unusable" and would undergo maintenance.
In the following days, 19 weapons were located by the police in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo and by the Army.
The sale of weapons was negotiated with two criminal factions, Comando Vermelho and PCC, according to the then Secretary of Public Security of São Paulo, Guilherme Derrite.
During the investigations, the Army administratively punished 38 soldiers. According to the Southeast Military Command, internal punishments include disciplinary imprisonment, from 1 to 20 days.
In June 2025, the Military Court sentenced in the first instance nine people accused of involvement in the theft of machine guns from the Army in São Paulo.
