PF fulfills 16 warrants in RJ in the second phase of Operation Without Refining

Cláudio Castro's address is target of search by the PF The Federal Police launched, on the morning of this Friday (14), the second phase of Operation Sem Refino and executed 16 search and seizure warrants in the state of Rio de Janeiro, including an address in Petrópolis, in the Serrana Region of Rio, in relation to Claudio Castro, former governor of Rio (see what the defense says at the end of the article). The investigation investigates suspicions of fraudulent and reckless management, money laundering, tax evasion, currency evasion, market manipulation and crimes against the economic order related to the sale of fuels. The warrants were issued by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and are being executed by Federal Police agents at different addresses in the state. ? The suspicion is that the authorizations were granted without observing the guidelines of the competent technical bodies. In addition, investigators are also investigating signs of money laundering allegedly linked to the scheme being investigated. The operation is part of the context of a decision by the Federal Supreme Court in the judgment of ADPF 635/RJ, known as ADPF das Favelas. Among the Court's determinations is that the Federal Police carry out investigations into the activities of criminal organizations active in the state and their possible connections with public agents. What Claudio Castro's defense says In a statement, the defense of former governor Cláudio Castro denied any participation in irregularities involving Refit. The lawyers stated that the target address for searches in Petrópolis has not had any connection with Castro for months and that, currently, there is no property linked to the former governor in the region. The defense also informed that it did not have access to the full content of the complaint or the elements that supported the operation and is awaiting access to the records to comment in more detail. The lawyers maintain that all acts carried out during Cláudio Castro's administration followed technical, legal and administrative criteria set out in the legislation. The note also highlights that the management was the only one to obtain from the Manguinhos Refinery the payment of debts with the State of Rio de Janeiro in an amount close to R$1 billion. According to the defense, the State Attorney General's Office filed several actions against the company throughout the government, demonstrating the State's role in collecting the amounts owed and defending the public interest.
