With a speech centered on the defense of democracy, freedom and the construction of a collective mandate, Pedro Taques (PSB) made his candidacy for the Federal Senate official during the progressive front convention.

"There is nothing more powerful than the strength of an idea whose time has come. The idea is democracy. The idea is freedom. And the time is now. We will exercise a collective mandate in the Senate of the Republic", he highlighted during the event that approved his candidacy, on Thursday night (30), at the Hotel Fazenda Mato Grosso, in Cuiabá.

The meeting brought together PSB, PT, PV, PCdoB, PSD, PDT, PSOL and Rede, approved the candidacies of Carlos Fávaro (PSD) for re-election to the Senate and Natasha Slhessarenko (PSD) to the State Government and marked Taques' return to electoral disputes. Attorney of the Republic (1995-2010), senator (2011-2015) and governor of Mato Grosso (2015-2019), he stated that he intends to put his experience back at the service of Mato Grosso in the Federal Senate.

When introducing the substitutes on the ticket, rural producer Carlos Ernesto Augustin (Teti) and teacher and trade unionist Guelda Andrade, Taques stated that the composition represents the convergence of different trajectories around a common project for Mato Grosso. Recalling that both have previously held different political positions, he highlighted: “Guelda has already booed me, and I respect those who booed me, because that is democracy.”

One of the main organizers of the progressive front, federal deputy Rosa Neide (PT) stated that the union of the eight parties was built over months of dialogue and respect for differences. According to her, the election of Pedro Taques (PSB) and Carlos Fávaro (PSD) will be strategic to strengthen democracy, expand Mato Grosso's representation in the National Congress and support the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Approved candidate for the State Government, Natasha Slhessarenko stated that her candidacy represents a collective construction and was born from the dream of thousands of Mato Grosso residents to build a State that is more fair and committed to the people. “This project was born from the dream of people who believe that it is possible to do things differently.”

The progressive front brings together different leaders around a project aimed at strengthening health, education, social justice and development. Taques highlighted the candidate's experience as a doctor, university professor and public servant and stated that Mato Grosso is experiencing a historic moment.
