Operation against group linked to Comando Vermelho fulfills 70 warrants in MG and RJ

Rifles and drugs were seized in an operation in MG and RJ MPMG/Disclosure An interstate criminal organization linked to Comando Vermelho, which operates in Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, was the target of an operation by several security agencies this Thursday (9). Operating in the Minas Gerais municipalities of Leopoldina, Recreio, Argirita, Cataguases and Além Paraíba, in addition to Rio de Janeiro, the group is involved in drug trafficking, possession and circulation of restricted weapons and homicides. Operation 'Quione' carries out 27 preventive arrest warrants and 43 search and seizure warrants in the cities of Leopoldina, Recreio, Juiz de Fora and Rio de Janeiro. Until the last update of this report, more than five thousand pieces of drugs, four rifles and several firearm magazines had been seized. The investigations also record episodes of serious violence, such as torture, beatings, threats, attacks against enemies and monitoring of police officers, in addition to the possible planning of an action against the life of a public security agent. Around 150 military police officers, seven prosecutors and MPMG employees participated in the operation, in addition to support from Gaeco and the Security and Intelligence Center (CSI) of the Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ).
