One of the main new features is the removal of an athlete from the line in case of assistance to the goalkeeper. When the archer requires medical attention on the field, the coach or team captain must indicate to the referee an outfield player who will be out of the match for a period of one minute.
In the duel between Vasco and Santos, on Sunday (16), in São Januário, Neymar had to leave the field temporarily after treating goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão.
Other measures against waxing, as the device used to delay the game is known, include a five-second limit on goal kick kicks. There is also a ten second limit for the substituted player to leave the pitch.
"This first weekend with the implementation of the new rules brings a very positive balance. It is still premature to talk about a consolidation of results, but it has already been possible to notice important advances in several games", said Netto Góes, director of arbitration at the CBF.
"The increase in the time the ball is rolling directly contributes to a more fluid, more dynamic game and, mainly, to the delivery of an increasingly better product to the fans", added Góes.
One of the changes is not related to the ball rolling time. The Brazilian also started to adopt what became known as the "Vini Jr." Law. Players who cover their mouths during arguments must be punished with a red card.
The new rule has also been applied in the confrontation between Vitória and Botafogo. Striker Arthur Cabral was sent off by the referee after the final whistle for putting his hand over his mouth when arguing with Jair Ventura, coach of the Bahian team.
In Series B, the new rules come into force from this Tuesday (18th), in the match between Londrina and Atlético-GO.
