MP-RO points out 'totally disproportionate' attitude of medical student who killed elderly man under pressure

'I warned you': audios show discussion between young man after running over and killing elderly man G1 had access to the complaint filed by the Public Ministry of Rondônia (MP-RO) against medical student Vitória Caroline Marangoni Schneider for the death of Odair Brustolin, aged 68. The document details the beginning of the discussion that took place on July 1st, in the center of Porto Velho. The student was charged with double homicide: for futile reasons and through an appeal that made it impossible for the victim to defend herself. There is also an aggravating factor because Odair is over 60 years old. The complaint was accepted by the Court and is being heard in the 2nd Jury Court, in Porto Velho. According to the document, Vitória Caroline crashed her own car into the gate of the condominium where she lived and began arguing with residents. Odair, who was a neighbor, passed by the place, laughed when he saw the commotion and said: “See,” catching the student’s attention. After that, Vitória began to curse the elderly man, went to the house where he lived, rang the doorbell several times and began to argue. Moments later, he broke down the house's gate with his own car and killed Odair pressed against the wall, according to the police investigation. In a note to g1, the accused's defense expressed solidarity with everyone involved, informing that Vitória Marangoni has already been subjected to expert examinations and is awaiting the conclusion of the report on her mental condition and capacity at the time of the events to define the appropriate defense measures. Personal file and screen print The crime According to the MP-RO, after swearing at Odair, trying to break into his house and throwing glass bottles at the family's property, Vitória promised that she would return: "You'll see what I'm going to do." Minutes later, the driver returned by car and stopped in front of the victim's residence. Screaming, he started threatening the elderly man with death and ordered Odair and his family to kneel on the sidewalk and ask for forgiveness. In an attempt to calm the driver, family members apologized. Odair, however, tried to explain to his neighbor that he would not be able to comply with the order to kneel because he suffered from physical problems with his knees. Vitória Caroline's response, recorded in the complaint, was: "You're not going? Then take it." After uttering the sentence, the accused got into the vehicle, accelerated the engine, put the car in reverse to move away and advanced towards the house. The car broke down the gate and invaded the property, hitting the elderly man. Odair Brustolin was pressed against the wall of a bathroom outside the residence and died at the scene.
