Vaccinations are free through the Unified Health System (SUS).

Isabel states that “D-Day” facilitates access for those who work during business hours and helps prevent the return of diseases that have already been eradicated, such as polio and measles. In addition to mobilization in the urban area, Semsa intensifies vaccination in rural areas during the week, from Monday to Friday, to serve riverside and land communities. Between August 3 and 17, 38,551 doses were administered to children and adolescents aged 0 to 14 years. Of the total, 32,403 were intended for children up to 8 years old, including 15,879 under 1 year old and 4,433 under 4 years old. “It’s a positive result, which we hope to expand on ‘D-Day’ and until the end of the campaign, on September 1st”, says Isabel. The campaign seeks to update the vaccination of children and adolescents under 15 years of age, with all vaccines provided for in the National Calendar. Among the vaccines is the second booster dose against polio, included in the Ministry of Health's calendar in August. The injectable vaccine is recommended for children up to 4 years, 11 months and 29 days.
