Based on the analysis of the images and other investigations, the man was identified and witnesses were interviewed. During the investigation, the Civil Police discovered that the owner had two dogs, which remained under his custody. Given the risk to the animals, the police asked the court for search and seizure warrants at three of the man's addresses and the temporary loss of custody of the dogs. With the documents in hand, the Civil Police managed to find and rescue the animals. Once in possession of them, the police called the Municipal Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability, which provided veterinary support. The bitches underwent clinical evaluation and will then be sent to a temporary environment. This way, they don't stay with the man and will have the necessary support. The crime of mistreatment of dogs is provided for in article 32, §1-A, of law number 9,605/1998, known as the Environmental Crimes Law. The penalty is imprisonment for two to five years, a fine and a ban on custody.
