The Brazilian Ministry of Health recommended expanded vaccination against measles in the municipalities of São Paulo, Guarulhos and São Bernardo do Campo for all people aged 6 months to 59 years (including those who have already taken the vaccine in the past). Among the main containment strategies is the application of the so-called "zero dose" in children aged 6 to 11 months. The temporary measure was integrated into the August 2026 Multivaccination Campaign and defined after the identification of confirmed cases of the disease, which indicate a chain of transmission related to the importation of the virus in these cities. By the end of July 2026, Brazil confirmed 17 cases of measles in the national territory.
