Actress Laura Cardoso dies at age 98 Actress Laura Cardoso, one of the biggest names in Brazilian dramaturgy, has died at age 98. The information was released on its official Instagram profile, in the early hours of Tuesday (18). She debuted on TV at 25, in 1952, in "Tribunal do Coração", on TV Tupi. Since then, she has worked in more than 60 soap operas, being the actress with the most career titles in the country. Her last work on TV was in the soap opera "A Dona do Pedaço", in 2019, and in the film "Dona Rosinha", from 2025. The actress debuted on TV Globo in 1981, in the soap opera "Brilhante", at the invitation of director Daniel Filho. And she ended up being hired two years later, when she acted in the serial "Pão Pão, Beijo Beijo". In 1993, Laura Cardoso played one of her most emblematic roles on TV, Dona Isaura, mother of twins Ruth and Raquel, in "Mulheres de Areia". The following year, another role reinforced the actress's talent and to this day she remains one of her most remembered characters, Dona Guiomar, from "A Viagem", where she starred alongside Miguel Falabella, who paid tribute to the actress in the early hours of this Tuesday on her Instagram. "Laura was gigantic, compulsive and had a talent that didn't fit into her small body," said the actor.
