A 69-year-old man was pre-emptively arrested in the Federal District on suspicion of raping his own daughter-in-law, a 55-year-old disabled woman. The investigation is conducted by the Special Police Station for the Repression of Crimes Against Persons with Disabilities (Decrin).
According to the Civil Police of the Federal District, before losing the ability to communicate, the victim managed to tell her family that she had been abused by her father-in-law. The statement was passed on to investigators and became part of the investigation.
The woman was hospitalized for a long period at the Ceilândia Regional Hospital (HRC), after suffering serious injuries attributed to the abuse. According to the corporation, the victim's health worsened the investigation and required the collection of other elements to support the arrest request.
The suspect had already been temporarily detained on May 22, but was released days later. As the investigations progressed, Decrin gathered new evidence and requested preventive detention, which was later authorized by the Court.
According to the police, a 39-year-old daughter of the person being investigated had a protective measure against him for previous episodes of threats, injuries and psychological violence in the context of the Maria da Penha Law.
The man, whose identity was not disclosed, was also charged with threats, failure to comply with an urgent protective measure and disturbing the peace.
