To date, there have been 53 matches and 23 goals scored with the Chelsea shirt, in addition to six assists. Coach Xabi Alonso praised the striker after signing the new contract. "I think his development as a great player and as a leader is very noticeable every day and in every game. He has this focus and this desire to have a great season, to score goals, but he is also focused on helping the team."
Under the command of the Spaniard, Chelsea will make their season debut next Monday (24), against Fulham, in the Premier League, at Craven Cottage. The team in blue has not won England's main national championship since the 2016-17 season.
