How to test your life
After receiving the notification, the insured can carry out verification at the bank branch where they receive the benefit. To do this, you must present an official document with photo. In some situations, it is also possible to carry out the procedure through the Meu INSS application or website, using facial biometrics linked to the Gov.br account.
The INSS highlights that it is not necessary to go to a local authority agency exclusively to carry out the life test. The paying bank or available digital channels can handle most cases.
The deadline to regularize the situation is 60 days after receiving the notification.
How to check the situation
The beneficiary can check whether the proof of life has already been automatically registered by the “Prova de Vida” service in the Meu INSS application or portal. If it is valid, the system informs the date of the last confirmation.
Another alternative is to seek information through Central 135, which operates from Monday to Saturday. Anyone who receives a message must also check whether it was actually sent by the official Government of Brazil profile.
Legitimate communications do not ask for passwords, banking details or verification codes via messaging apps.
Beware of scams
The INSS also warns that it does not make calls or home visits to request proof of life. Therefore, requests for financial information, transfers or codes must be treated as attempted fraud.
The advice is to ignore contacts of this type and only use official channels. Therefore, only those who receive the official communication need to provide proof, in person or through available digital means.
