Influencer receives six stitches after attack at samba circle in Rio

The attacker, identified as Lucas Henrique Baldusca Braz, allegedly left the police station laughing and mocking, according to Carla's lawyer, Thaiz Sardinha. The report seeks contact with Braz's defense.

The case occurred at the samba Independente dos Bons Costumes, at Fundição Progresso. Carla stated that she was there with friends and had gone to the bathroom when two men approached the group. According to her, one of them was staggering and bumping into people around him.

The influencer said she asked one of the men to move away because he was falling on her. At that moment, according to his report, the samba was interrupted, and a woman on stage warned that the place did not tolerate harassment or any type of violence.

Carla stated that, after that, she only remembers the attacks. According to her, the man pushed her and punched her face and forehead. “From then on, I only remember violence,” he wrote.

According to the report, people who were at the scene approached to help her. Carla said she heard a singer on stage warn that a woman was being attacked and was bleeding. When he looked at his own hand, he realized that it had blood on it.

According to the influencer, more than five men had to remove the attacker from above her. Carla stated that he focused the violence on her, although she had not spoken to the man previously.

"He focused his violence on me," he wrote. According to Carla, witnesses reported that the man pulled her braids and punched her.

The influencer was taken to the clinic and, later, to the police station. From there, he went to the Souza Aguiar Municipal Hospital, where he received six stitches in his eyebrow. After medical care, he returned to the police unit to give a statement.

The case was registered at the 5th DP (Mem de Sá), in Lapa. According to the influencer, she was informed by the authorities that the case did not fall under the Maria da Penha Law because she did not previously know the attacker. "This is misogyny in its purest form. And it needs to be typecast as such," he wrote.

Carla also stated that she missed work that she would do the next morning because she works with her own image. “Now the legal procedures follow, and I can only have some faith in Justice,” he wrote.

Lawyer claims that attacker laughed at the situation

Carla's lawyer, Thaiz Sardinha, said that, while they waited at the police station, the man laughed and made gestures with his cell phone as if he was filming himself. At one point, according to her, he asked a police officer to go to the bathroom and, upon returning, he passed by Carla, "turned to her and sent her a kiss, smiling."

For the lawyer, the behavior reinforces her assessment that there was contempt against Carla because she was a woman and, therefore, elements of gender violence.

The lawyer challenged the classification of the episode as a "general fight". According to her, the delegate responsible for the dispatch, who worked remotely, stated that there were not enough elements to classify the case as gender-based violence.

"I said it wasn't a generalized fight, it was a specific and unique fight," he said. She added that the singer who witnessed the episode went to the police station and reported that the attack involved two people.

The lawyer also said she reported that Carla suffered a series of punches, had her hair pulled and needed the intervention of five people to get the man off her. According to the lawyer, "at no time did the delegate ask to view images of the location" to verify the circumstances of the episode.

Carla was sent for a forensic examination. According to the lawyer, at IML, the expert observed the influencer's face, asked what had happened and recorded the attack as a minor injury.

Subsequently, Carla reported pain in her scalp, chest and chest and received emergency medical care in a UPA. According to the lawyer, the doctor identified injuries, including a lump on the head, and requested an X-ray examination.

Samba Independente dos Bons Costumes published a note showing solidarity with Carla and highlighting that it supported the influencer from the beginning.

"Our samba circle was interrupted, the public and security guards were alerted on the microphone and Carla was brought to the stage for her safety. Carla was taken to the medical station by our SIBC WITHOUT HARASSMENT team together with the SIBC production team, and the military police were called", said the event organizers.
