'Highly cold person': suspect of killing three in massacre in Manaus showed no regret, says police chief

The police also checked the motorcycle used by the suspect and found that it was the same vehicle that appears in the images. When confronted, Ezenilson confessed to the murders and told investigators, in detail, how the action happened. "We confronted him, he didn't hesitate, he confessed to committing this crime. We had to return to the scene of the crime to see those horror scenes again to understand the dynamics and there he reported in great detail what this criminal action was like," said Cunha. Despite the confession, the suspect presented a version that he had acted in self-defense. The allegation, however, did not convince investigators, according to the delegate. "He claimed self-defense, which obviously didn't convince us, but it was claimed by him during the interrogation," he said. How the massacre happened The massacre took place on Monday morning (17), in a residence in the São Jorge neighborhood. According to the investigation, Ezenilson arrived at the property at around 5:30 am, parked a motorcycle in front of the house and jumped over the wall. He remained there for around two hours and left the residence around 7am. During this period, three people were killed and one woman was injured. The dead are Francisco das Chagas Morais Santos, aged 66, Isabella Coelho Morais, aged 29, and Guilherme Pereira Lima Filho, aged 65. The fourth victim, identified only as Dilma, was rescued and taken to João Lúcio Hospital and Emergency Room, in the East Zone of Manaus. According to the police, Ezenilson went to the residence to ask Francisco, who was a pastor and his former father-in-law, for money. The suspect would have contracted a debt with loan sharks. According to the police chief, there was a disagreement after Francisco refused to hand over more money to the suspect. "[They] had a disagreement because this pastor didn't want to give him more money and, according to him, he lost his head and killed this pastor in his own room," said Cunha. Two were in a bedroom and the third, in the hallway of the house. A resident found the victims and called the Military Police via number 190. The police went to the address and confirmed the crime. The area was isolated for forensic work. The Legal Medical Institute (IML) and the Technical-Scientific Police Department (DPTC) were called for the procedures. The fourth victim was rescued by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and taken to João Lúcio Hospital and Emergency Room.
