Heads of a criminal organization specializing in arms trafficking and deforestation are arrested in RO

The Civil Police of Rondônia began an operation this Friday (14) to combat environmental crimes and the illegal trade of firearms in the Serra dos Reis State Conservation Unit, in São Francisco do Guaporé (RO). The action resulted in the preventive arrest of two people being investigated, identified as leaders of the criminal organization, in addition to three other arrests in the act. As of early this morning, more than 10 firearms and 150 ammunition had been seized. In addition to the arrests, the police carried out search and seizure warrants at seven addresses in the municipalities of São Francisco do Guaporé (RO) and Costa Marques (RO). Another six people under investigation were subjected to various precautionary measures in prison. Among the restrictions imposed by the Court are the prohibition of access to the conservation unit and the suspension of extraction and commercialization of forest products without environmental licensing. The operation is coordinated by the 2nd Police Station for the Repression of Organized Crime (Draco 2), together with the State Secretariat for Environmental Development (Sedam) and the Public Ministry of Rondônia (MP-RO).
