Guitarists Nelson Faria and Sandro Haick play Dominguinhos, João Bosco and Tom Jobim on the album 'Talking standards'

Nelson Faria from Minas Gerais and Sandro Haick from São Paulo join forces and guitars on the double album “Talking standards”, recorded in three days in a studio in Italy – with the freedom allowed by jazz, the guiding thread of the 14 tracks – and available on audio apps from today, Saturday, 22nd August. With editions in physical LP and CD formats scheduled for September, the album “Talking standards” is divided into two volumes, each with seven songs, totaling 14 compositions selected by the artists from a total of 40 titles. The admiration between the guitarists is reciprocal, but “Talking Standards” is the first album that Faria and Haick recorded and signed together. The rapprochement took place in 2025 when Nelson Faria performed at a commercial event with a band that included Nelson Haick, multi-instrumentalist, on bass. Once musical ties were strengthened, the idea of ??a joint album came about, supported by the Italian label Bobo Records. If the first volume of the album “Talking standards” is dedicated to international themes, such as “Round midnight” (Thelonious Monk, 1943) and “Stella by starlight” (Victor Young and Ned Washington, 1944), volume two features only Brazilian songs in a selection that prioritizes themes by composers Antonio Carlos Jobim (1927 – 1994), Dominguinhos (1941 – 2013) and João Bosco. Faria and Haick play “Desafinado” (Antonio Carlos Jobim and Newton Mendonça, 1959), “Insensatez” (Antonio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, 1961), “Tarde” (Milton Nascimento and Márcio Borges, 1969), “Incompatibility of Geniuses” (Joõa Bosco and Aldir Blanc, 1976), “Papel Maché” (João Bosco and José Carlos Capinan, 1984), “De volta pro aconchego” (Dominguinhos and Nando Cordel, 1985) and “Princesinha no choro” (Dominguinhos, 1995).
