Campinas Region records more than seven thousand accidents in 2026 Friday and Saturday are the days of the week when the Administrative Region of Campinas (SP) records the most traffic accidents. The data are from the Traffic Accident Information System in São Paulo (Infosiga-SP), and consider fatal and non-fatal occurrences between January and August 14, 2026. In total, there were 7,441 accidents in the period, considering all days of the week. Fridays lead the ranking, with 1,174 records, followed by Saturdays, with 1,134. Among the main causes identified by the corporation are rush and alcohol consumption. “As the track is a little more empty during the weekend, because it doesn't have that day-to-day flow, going to work, school and everything else, people think it's freer to run and this can lead to more traffic accidents”, said Captain Vinícius Becker, from PM Rodoviária. With the increase in traffic on highways and urban roads during the weekend, drivers are recommended to pay extra attention, respect speed limits and not drive after consuming alcoholic beverages.
