SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) - Corinthians fans gathered on the afternoon of this Wednesday (19) in front of the headquarters of the MP (Public Ministry), in the central region of São Paulo, to protest against the current board and ask for intervention at the club in the east of the capital.

"Corinthians is going through one of the biggest crises in its history. The fans can no longer take this dirty politics that dominates the club, the behind-the-scenes collusion and an associative model that, for years, has alienated the true owner of this passion: the Corinthian people", says a joint statement released by some of the club's main organizations.

"The consequences of this system are increasingly evident, reflected in the financial and administrative chaos that compromises the institution's credibility, undermines its planning and puts the future of Corinthians at risk", adds the note.

"Corinthians needs transparency, responsibility and respect for its fans", say the fans Gaviões da Fiel, Camisa 12, Pavilhão 9, Estopim da Fiel, Coringão Chopp and Fiel Macabra.

According to the group of fans, the protest aims to "express support for the work of the Public Prosecutor's Office and request the immediate implementation of judicial intervention in the club, with the fans on the side of the MP in this fight."

In recent days, fans have put pressure on the president of Corinthians, Osmar Stabile, after the director announced the non-renewal of striker Memphis Depay's contract.

Faced with the pressure, which, according to Stabile, included threats to him and his family, the club backed down and announced on Tuesday (18) the extension of the player's contract until July 2028.

"This is a peaceful and symbolic act, which demonstrates responsibility by requesting that the competent bodies analyze the club's situation and adopt the appropriate measures", say those organized.

They also state that new protests will be organized for the second leg of the Copa Libertadores, on Thursday (20), against Rosario Central, in Itaquera, and on Saturday (21), in front of Parque São Jorge.

"Corinthians belongs to the people. No more collusion. No more politicking. Judicial intervention now! Everyone out!", the fans ask.
