Elderly couple is located after more than 24 hours trapped in an accident car in RS PRF/Disclosure On the afternoon of this Friday (21), the Federal Highway Police (PRF) located an elderly couple who had been trapped for more than 24 hours in an accident car on the BR-293, in Dom Pedrito, in the Campanha region, in Rio Grande do Sul. The man is 87 years old, and the woman, 80. In the early afternoon, the PRF was called by family members, who discovered the couple missing. The elderly had left Dom Pedrito at around 6am on Thursday (20) in a Fiat Palio with Bagé plates. They were heading to the city of Bagé, but never reached their destination. ? Access the g1 RS channel on WhatsApp During the searches, one of the victims managed to make telephone contact with a relative and reported that the vehicle had skidded and fallen into a manhole. The couple had been trapped in the car since then, on a stretch between Dom Pedrito and Bagé. The call, however, was interrupted and it was no longer possible to establish contact with the victim, according to the highway police. PRF teams began searching BR-293 to locate the couple and the vehicle. Relatives of the victims also helped in the search for the couple. The Santa Maria Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime (FICCO) also provided support in locating the victims. At around 5pm, the couple and the vehicle were found. A cyclist had arrived at the scene shortly before and was already helping the elderly. The car was overturned in an embankment, partially in the water of a stream. The elderly were in the vehicle, in an isolated area, where they remained since approximately 7am on Thursday, spending the night and much of Friday there. The support of the Dom Pedrito Fire Department and an ambulance was needed to carry out the rescue.
