The episode took place in April and became part of an investigation by the Civil Police of the Federal District (PCDF). The 32-year-old woman is suspected of mistreating her mother, in addition to being the target of reports involving the use of the retiree's financial resources.
According to the column Na Mira, from Metrópoles, the victim is a retired employee of the Education Department of the Federal District and has fully depended on the help of other people since suffering a stroke in 2020.
Employees heard screams inside the room
The daughter arrived at the motel with her mother and paid R$500 for a few days' accommodation. At a certain point, however, he left the establishment without saying where he was going.
After hearing the calls for help, employees called the manager, who entered the room with a spare key. The team offered the woman food and water and called the Federal District Military Police. The daughter's belongings, including her cell phone, remained at the scene.
The retiree told the police that an apartment where the two lived had recently been sold for R$95,000. She stated that she suspected that her daughter had gone out to spend the money on drugs.
Complaints began before the episode at the motel
The case had already reached the Civil Police the previous month. In March, friends of the victim approached the authorities to report the conditions in which the retiree was living alongside her daughter.
According to reports, the woman was previously found locked in the apartment, without food, water or assistance. Witnesses also said that the daughter was a drug user, especially crack, and was not offering the necessary care to her mother.
The investigation also investigates the suspicion that the daughter appropriated the retiree's bank card and made withdrawals and transfers, including to third-party accounts and her own account. According to the complaint, practically all of the mother's monthly benefit had been used.
Mother had left nursing home
After the stroke suffered in 2020, the retired civil servant began to live in a nursing home, where she received assistance with food, hygiene and other daily care.
Subsequently, the daughter would have insisted that her mother leave the place and return to the family apartment, promising to take over the care. Witnesses claim that, after returning, the victim's situation worsened. The property would have been inherited by the daughter, while the mother remained a resident.
The Special Police Station for the Suppression of Crimes for Racial, Religious Discrimination or Sexual Orientation or Against Elderly Persons or People with Disabilities (Decrin) opened an investigation to investigate the case.
After being found at the motel, the retiree stopped living with her daughter and started living with a caregiver in another rented property. Read Also: Court sets trial for PMs involved in model death in Rio
