The Rio Courts scheduled the trial of military police officers Rodrigo Correia de Frias and Marcos Felipe da Silva Salviano for November 26, at 10 am, at the Capital's II Jury Court, accused of involvement in the death of model Kathlen Romeu, who was shot with a rifle on June 8, 2021, in Complexo do Lins, north of the capital.

13 weeks pregnant, aged 24, Kathlen had just visited her grandmother when she was shot in the chest during an operation carried out by the Military Police. The victim was rescued and taken to Hospital Salgado Filho, in Méier, but did not survive the injury.

The judge in charge of the 2nd Criminal Court, Elizabeth Machado Louro, pronounced the two PMs based on article 413 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, to be submitted to the Jury Court, as incurring the penalties of article 121, § 2, item III, in the form of article 73, first part, and article 29, all of the Penal Code.

When delivering the sentence, in March 2025, determining that the defendants be submitted to a popular jury, the judge highlighted the documents contained in the case.

"The materiality is proven by the autopsy report, as well as by the injury diagrams. The authorship, equally, was sufficiently indicted in the records, notably by the technical evidence produced in the investigation".

According to her, in this sense, although the oral evidence was not capable of indicating that the shot that hit the victim came from the accused, the simulated reproduction report appears sufficient to indicate authorship, at least for the purposes of the decision.
