Rain is expected to continue irregularly next week
For next week, the scenario should remain similar, with dry weather prevailing in much of Central Brazil.
A more significant change is expected only in the last week of August, when rains tend to gradually return to the South Region. There is also the possibility of some precipitation in the west of Mato Grosso and in Mato Grosso do Sul.
Despite this, Arthur Müller emphasizes that the predicted volumes are not yet high.
Heat can exceed 40°C in the Midwest
While rain will be scarce in much of Central Brazil, temperatures should remain quite high.
In the next 10 to 15 days, Rondônia, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará and Tocantins may record highs between 38°C and 40°C.
The situation could become even more intense next week, especially in Mato Grosso, where thermometers could surpass the 40°C mark.
The combination of very high temperatures and low rainfall keeps concerns about fire outbreaks high. According to the meteorologist, this condition could persist throughout August and continue into mid-September.
Delayed rain increases concern in Central Brazil
The persistence of hot and dry weather is also related to the tendency for rain delays in the main producing areas in the Center-North of the country.
With the combination of low humidity, high temperatures and the absence of heavy rain, producers must continue to pay attention to field conditions and the risk of fires.
Last cold of winter
Despite the prevailing heat in Central Brazil, a new mass of cold air is expected to advance over the South Region next week.
The system can cause minimum temperatures to drop below 5°C in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, increasing the risk of frost formation.
The forecast, however, does not indicate a new prolonged cold wave. The expectation is that the period of lower temperatures will only last one or two days, with the possibility of low-intensity frosts.
