Implementation will not be immediate for all products already available. The company is committed to adopting the feature within the deadline established by the European Union, while the next models launched for the Claude should already arrive with the identification mechanisms incorporated.
European legislation came into force on August 2 and provides a period of four months for existing artificial intelligence tools to adapt to the rules related to the identification of content generated by AI.
According to information released by Anthropic, texts produced by Claude will have identifiers integrated into the content itself. Files generated by the tool may include source metadata accompanied by a digital signature, as long as the format used is compatible.
“The text generated [with Artificial Intelligence] will contain embedded identifiers and the generated files will include source metadata with digital signature, when compatible”, informs Claude's support page.
The company further explains that the identifier will be able to track the content even when the user copies and pastes the text on another platform. According to Anthropic, the brand may also remain discoverable after certain types of editing.
Anthropic prepares system to detect content created by Claude
In addition to inserting identifiers, Anthropic is working on tools that allow users and third parties to check whether certain content was produced by Claude.
The company has not yet detailed how this detection system will work. The technical specifications must be presented in the future in specific documentation.
The initiative follows new European Union rules to increase transparency on the use of artificial intelligence and facilitate the identification of content produced or modified by AI systems.
