However, at the family home, the woman told the guards that she had slept and that her son had been on the street since 1 pm. After the rescue, the child took a shower, changed his clothes and was taken with his mother to the São José Emergency Care Unit (UPA) for medical evaluation. Afterwards, the two were taken to the police station. The mother was interviewed and released, but could face charges of abandonment of an incapacitated person. The boy returned home and remains in her care.
