The United States appears in second place, with 41 thousand tons, followed by Chile, with 31 thousand tons.

The group of ten largest importers also includes Russia, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Italy and the Netherlands, markets that concentrate a significant part of the protein exports produced in the State.

In addition to the main buyers, beef from Mato Grosso also reached lower volume markets, such as Cape Verde, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Albania and Libya, demonstrating the diversification of destinations served by the state's meatpacking industry.

"The diversification of export destinations is a strategic factor for the competitiveness of livestock in Mato Grosso. The greater the number of purchasing markets, the less exposure the production chain has to economic fluctuations. This dispersion of markets provides greater predictability for the industry and livestock farmers, in addition to creating opportunities to access niches that pay better for the quality of the meat", assesses the Project Director of the Mato Grosso Meat Institute (Imac), Bruno de Jesus Andrade.
