Furthermore, Linha Viva professionals, specialized in interventions in energized networks, are directly supporting the implementation of these structures, which will be fundamental to guarantee the safe crossing of the local fauna. As a complementary stage of the project, we are also readjusting sections of the electrical network, with the installation of protective coverage in this section. This measure adds an extra layer of safety for the animals, especially the monkeys, contributing to the preservation of fauna and to reduce the risk of accidents in Alta Floresta”, says regional coordinator Washington Soares Perez Junior.
Additional protection also takes into account the behavior of animals that use the structures. The cable covers will isolate the network at defined points, reducing the risk of primates coming into contact with the cables during movement.
According to Fernanda Abra, creator of the Reconecta Project, which developed the bridge model used in Alta Floresta, the partnership with Energisa MT was important to adapt the infrastructure and allow the implementation of crossings in these locations.
"The second phase is more complex because the eight new bridges are in areas where we have energy networks. That's why we brought in Energisa as an institutional partner. The company has helped us both in installing the bridges and in protecting the networks to prevent any risk to primates. The bridges are important for these animals, both to reduce the risk of being run over and to allow them to access other forest fragments again. The bridge connects one forest environment to another at the canopy level", says Fernanda.
In the first phase of Alta Floresta Não Atropela, in 2024, seven bridges were installed in the municipality. In almost two years of monitoring, the structures recorded more than 17 thousand animal crossings, according to project data. The new stage adds another eight crossing points and expands the connection between forest fragments separated by the urban road network.
"The company needs to be attentive to the demands and what society brings. Here, we are meeting a demand that involves environmental protection and safety, as many cars pass through these locations. The installation of bridges and the protection of the network help to preserve the animals and maintain the safety of the infrastructure", says Jorge Sírio, Relationship Coordinator at Energisa Mato Grosso.
