EcoRodovias implemented a monitoring system with artificial intelligence in vehicles used by dealerships. Disclosure/EcoRodovias Frequent yawning, eyes closed for a few seconds, looking away from the road and even using a cell phone while driving are among the behaviors that may indicate a risk of accidents on highways. To avoid these situations, a monitoring system with artificial intelligence was installed in vehicles in the EcoRodovias fleet, which circulate on the highways of the Anchieta-Imigrantes System, on the coast of São Paulo. The technology uses cameras, sensors and real-time analysis to identify signs of fatigue, distraction and other behaviors considered unsafe while driving. The system also records excessive speed, sudden acceleration and braking, sharp curves and failure to use a seat belt. ? The project is being implemented in the company's 11 concessionaires, including Ecovias Imigrantes, responsible for the Anchieta-Imigrantes System (SAI), the main connection between the capital and Baixada Santista.

The project should be completed later this month, with installation at Ecovias Rio Minas. According to EcoRodovias User Service Manager, Fernando Alves Ferreira, the objective is to identify risk behaviors before they result in accidents. "The main differentiator of these solutions is the ability to act preventively. Instead of just analyzing what happened after an incident, the technology makes it possible to identify risky behavior while driving and act before an incident happens," he said. According to him, fatigue is still one of the most difficult factors to perceive while driving. Therefore, the system was developed to recognize signs of drowsiness, such as repeated yawning, prolonged eye closure and loss of attention. When any of these situations are identified, an alert is immediately issued to the driver so that he or she can resume focusing on driving. In addition to real-time monitoring, the information collected is also used to guide training and awareness actions aimed at drivers. The system does not record conversations or monitor the audio of vehicle occupants, focusing the analysis only on factors related to road safety. The system is already working on all vehicles that circulate on Ecovias Imigrantes. Disclosure/EcoRodovias Baixada Santista According to EcoRodovias, the system is already working in 100% of the fleet in Baixada Santista, consisting of 40 vehicles, in addition to administrative vehicles. Vehicles circulate on the following stretches that make up the Anchieta-Imigrantes System: Rodovia Anchieta (SP-150): from km 9+700 to km 65+600. In total, 55.9 kilometers; Rodovia dos Imigrantes (SP-160): from km 11+460 to km 70. In total, 58.54 kilometers; Planalto Interconnection (SP-040/150): eight kilometers long, connecting the Anchieta and Imigrantes highways at the top of the mountain, 40 km high; Baixada Interconnection (SP-059/150): 1.8 kilometers long. Connects the Anchieta highway, at km 59, and Imigrantes, at km 62; Cônego Domênio Rangoni Highway (SP-248/55): from km 270 to km 248, in Cubatão, and from km 1 to km 8, in Guarujá. The highway has 30.6 kilometers under concession; Padre Manoel da Nóbrega Highway (SP-055): from km 270 to km 292. In total, there are 21.6 kilometers that connect the Cubatão region to Praia Grande.
