The civil wedding took place within the health unit, during José Maria's hospitalization, who is facing pancreatic cancer. The couple met in 2009 and have a 10-year-old daughter. Given the delicate moment the family was experiencing, José and Luciana decided to make their union official. For Luciana, the ceremony also represents a way of reaffirming the bond built over the years. "We met in 2009 and, from then on, we've been together in our lives. We've always stayed close to each other, always giving support, giving strength. I've never left his side in any situation. Now the feelings really come to the surface. That's why we decided to enter into a stable union, which is faster", he said. ? According to clinical doctor Thayane Aguiar, he receives palliative care, focusing on controlling pain, symptoms and complications caused by the disease. Luciana said that José started showing symptoms in December 2025, but the cancer diagnosis was only confirmed in April of this year. He began treatment with chemotherapy, but experienced bleeding during the third session. "That's when we started coming to the hospital, on July 21st. Since then, we've been here. He's been to the ICU twice. We went home, he then came back. And now we're here", he reported. Despite the difficulties faced in recent months, Luciana stated that the two always remained close and supported each other during difficult times. "Every couple has their difficulties, but we were always close to each other, always giving support, giving strength. I never left his side in any situation", he said.
