Americana one of the country's main references in the implementation of OCIs Credit: Disclosure More than 10 thousand patients have already been served by the "Thousand Cares in One Day" effort, an initiative by the City of Americana, through the Department of Health, which transformed access to specialized services and placed the municipality as a state and national reference in the implementation of Integrated Care Offers (OCIs), a Ministry of Health strategy aimed at carrying out consultations, exams and referrals in a single flow of care. Since the first edition, held in October last year, the action has seen 26,786 procedures performed and 10,461 patients treated. The model brings together, on a single day and in the same place, medical consultations, exams and the necessary referrals for continued treatment, reducing waiting time, speeding up diagnosis and providing more convenience to users of the Unified Health System (SUS). Model that became a reference The success of the initiative made Americana one of the main references in the country in the implementation of OCIs. The strategy promotes more resolute care, with better organization of care flows, more efficient use of public resources and a reduction in the need for multiple trips by patients. "The 'Thousand Cares in One Day' represents a new way of caring for people. When we bring together consultations, exams and referrals on the same day, we reduce waiting time, speed up the start of treatment and offer more convenience to the patient. This model strengthens the efficiency of the network and guarantees increasingly humanized and resolute care", says the municipal secretary of Health, Danilo Carvalho Oliveira. Over the ten editions already held, the collective effort included several medical specialties, such as orthopedics, ophthalmology, women's health, cardiology, oncology and others, in addition to thousands of diagnostic procedures, strengthening the population's access to specialized services and contributing to reducing demand on the municipal network. More agile and resolute service The recognition achieved by Americana demonstrates that it is possible to innovate in public management with a focus on the needs of the population. By concentrating different stages of care in a single service, the municipality speeds up diagnoses, optimizes resources and improves the patient experience within the SUS. "The 'Thousand Cares in One Day' is an example of how planning, innovation and commitment to people can transform public health. Americana has become a reference for other cities because it places the patient at the center of care, offering more speed, efficiency and quality at each stage of care", highlights Mayor Chico Sardelli.
