RS Civil Police investigate death of 4-year-old girl in Porto Alegre The Porto Alegre Guardianship Council was following the case of the 4-year-old girl who arrived dead at a UPA more than a year ago. The first care for Samylle Valentina Borba Ramiro took place in April 2025, when the girl and her 9-year-old sister were taken to their maternal grandparents' house. Samylle's death is investigated by the Civil Police. The child was admitted in the early hours of Monday (17) at UPA Bom Jesus, in the East Zone of Porto Alegre, already lifeless and with purple spots on his body. ? In 2025, Samylle and her older half-sister (daughter of the same mother and another man) were removed from their mother and father, who was her partner at the time. According to the Guardianship Council, the removal recommendation was made to the Court following a complaint of sexual violence. The victim would be Samylle's sister, and the suspect was her father, stepfather of the alleged victim. "A person made this announcement that there was a suspicion of sexual rape [against her sister. So, that's why they joined the Council. That's why, at that moment, they were removed from their mother", explains Leandro Barbosa da Silva, general coordinator of the Guardianship Councils of Porto Alegre. In October last year, custody of the youngest child was returned to the mother, shared with the father. The other girl would have stayed with her grandparents. The police are still trying to understand how Samylle got to her aunt and uncle's house. They were the ones who took her to medical care, already lifeless. The aunt stayed at the UPA until the end of the treatment, but the uncle fled as soon as the police arrived at the scene. Recently, on July 8th, the aunt would have gone to the Guardianship Council. "When the aunt presents herself in another unit saying that she is protective, then she assumed there that she is responsible, but the mother was the guardian", highlights Silva. The aunt informed authorities that the girl was living with her. According to the police, documents show that the Guardianship Council had, at the beginning of July, granted a term of responsibility to the aunt, who was in negotiations to obtain custody in court. In a note, the Public Defender's Office confirmed that she was contacted by her aunt last Thursday (13), "directed by the Guardianship Council, due to the impossibility of the mother exercising custody." After the first call last year, the Council informed the police about the situation. "The [protection] network did not make a mistake, because we have already sent all the documents, including to the Civil Police", says the general coordinator of the Guardianship Councils in the capital. Civil Police investigate The Civil Police are investigating the cause of death and who was responsible for the alleged attacks. Expert reports must indicate when the injuries were caused. "There are injuries to the head, buttocks, legs", reports Alice Fernandes, delegate of the 3rd Police Station for the Protection of Children and Adolescents. "The doctors reported visible signs of aggression, some marks on the victim's body", the delegate further states. The girl's aunt, who took her to the emergency unit, gave statements to the police. She stated that when she arrived home after work, the girl was getting out of the shower and had injuries on her body. She allegedly questioned her companion and the two had an argument. "The girl went to her room to sleep. When her aunt passed by, the girl was in bed, sleeping. She saw that she was foaming at the foam, as if she were convulsing", says the deputy. Until the publication of this report, the police were still not working with suspects and were treating everyone involved in the case as witnesses.
