100 days: Via Campo accelerates improvements on 432 kilometers of highways

When it took over the management of 432 kilometers of highways in the West and North of Paraná, in April this year, Via Campo began one of the most important stages of a concession contract: recovering the existing infrastructure and structuring an operation capable of serving those who use the highways every day. In the first 100 days of work, the teams concentrated their efforts on conservation services, pavement recovery, signage, drainage cleaning, mowing and implementation of the operational structure distributed along the entire stretch. The result can already be seen by those traveling along BR-163, BR-369, BR-467 and PR-317. Almost 350 kilometers of pavement were recovered, more than 75 thousand tons of asphalt were applied, around 2,700 kilometers of mowing were carried out, 208 kilometers of drainage devices were cleaned, in addition to the recovery and implementation of metal defenses and the maintenance of approximately 3,500 road signs. Another important milestone in this start of operation was the beginning of the revitalization of the Ayrton Senna Bridge, on BR-163. The intervention includes structural recovery, new paving and modernization of the lighting system of one of the main connections between Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul. For the CEO of Via Campo, Sergio Santillán, the first months represent just the beginning of a transformation planned for the coming decades. "We have structured an operation present throughout the stretch, we have started important recovery works and we have started to deliver improvements that are already making a difference for those who use these highways. It is just the beginning of a long-term work, which will continue to be focused on safety, quality and regional development." Service that operates 24 hours a day In addition to the works, another challenge in the first months was getting the entire operational structure of the dealership up and running. Today, the stretch has uninterrupted service, carried out by teams strategically distributed along the highways. The structure brings together ambulances, inspection vehicles, tow trucks, water trucks and User Service Bases (SAUs), prepared to offer support to drivers during trips. In the first 100 days alone, more than 3,000 mechanical aids were carried out, around 560 medical assistances, more than 400 wildlife protection actions and more than 30 fire-related assistances. The ten operational bases offer bathrooms, drinking water, parking, rest areas and self-service totems with useful information for drivers. Development that also generates opportunities The implementation of the operation also boosted the regional economy. According to estimates by the concessionaire, more than a thousand direct and indirect jobs were created at the beginning of the contract, involving professionals in the areas of engineering, conservation, user service, works and operations, with hiring distributed across the 16 municipalities served by the concession.
