The composition was aligned in Brasília, during a meeting with the national president of the PL, Valdemar da Costa Neto. In addition to Janaina, federal deputy José Medeiros (PL) will also run for the Senate on the Wellington ticket.
"We have defined Zé Medeiros' candidacy on our ticket, along with Janaina Riva also on our ticket. The two senators are already defined, undergoing a decision by PL Nacional", stated Wellington.
The senator acknowledged that there was resistance from Medeiros to the alliance with the MDB, but said that the composition was created given the need to expand the political group for the electoral dispute.
According to Wellington, the initial strategy was to launch just one candidate for the Senate. However, the scenario changed after the União Brasil convention, which decided to support the re-election candidacy of governor Otaviano Pivetta (Republicans), leaving senator Jayme Campos out of the dispute for State Government.
With Jayme's withdrawal from the race for Palácio Paiaguás, Wellington stated that he intends to seek the support of the senator and allies who defended União Brasil's own candidacy.
"Unfortunately, they didn't let Senator Jayme Campos be a candidate, just as they didn't want Wellington's candidacy. They wanted it to go to the W.O., but it won't be for the W.O., it will be for the WF", he said.
"This is our work and I really believe it. In fact, with now the support of Senator Jayme Campos, with all those who want to make Mato Grosso a State of opportunity for everyone, we will be together", he added.
Despite the definition of the two names for the Senate, Wellington stated that the choice of the candidate for lieutenant governor has not yet been completed.
The senator also said that he hopes to attract Podemos, the party chaired in Mato Grosso by state deputy Max Russi, president of the Legislative Assembly.
“We are now going to have the conventions so that we can also have Podemos with us”, he stated.
