According to the NGO, the two southern fur seals went through very different moments before returning to the sea. The first was a juvenile male, found in Balneário Gaivota, in the south of the state, by the Educamar team during actions of the Pelotas Basin Beach Monitoring Project (PMP-BP). He was very weak, weighing just 14 kg, not very reactive and with an injury to his right eye. After the rescue and five days of stabilization at the Educamar base, he was taken to R3 Animal, where he continued treatment. Little by little, he regained his weight and body condition. On the day of release, he already weighed 20 kg. The second was a juvenile female, found in Laguna, also in the south of the state, by the team from the Udesc Zoology Laboratory, which runs the PMP-BS. She couldn't support one of her fins. The X-ray revealed a fissure in the limb and, after treatment at R3 Animal, he was able to use it normally again. Before continuing their journey, the two received individual identification. If they are found again, it will be possible to find out who they are and follow their stories.
