César sought medical attention when he noticed that the swelling was increasing. CT and MRI exams identified post-septal cellulitis, an infection that, according to him, had already gone beyond the eye region and advanced to deeper areas.
“I had to rush for treatment, because otherwise I could lose my vision, it could turn into meningitis, it could end up dragging,” he said.
The chef had to remain hospitalized at Hospital Paulistano to receive antibiotics directly into his vein and be monitored by the medical team. He also thanked the professionals responsible for providing care during hospitalization.
“A red eye is not always conjunctivitis or just an irritation”, he warned. César recommended paying attention to signs such as rapidly increasing swelling, pain, sensations of pressure or a foreign body.
"When something in your body is getting worse quickly, don't ignore it, seek help. Your body gives you signals, listen", he concluded.
A reference in Japanese confectionery, César impressed the MasterChef judges and audience by using ingredients such as shoyu, wasabi and miso to create desserts. In 2024, the São Paulo native won the reality show and received the prize of R$300,000.
