Dance, research and Community The study is conducted by journalist from the Secretariat of Communication and Multimedia (Secomm/UFMT) and master's student Luiz Carlos Costa Bezerra, under the guidance of professor Aline Wendpap Nunes de Siqueira, and investigates the trajectory of Cia Vôo Livre de Teatro e Dança and the legacy of Paulo Medina (1969–2013), one of the main names in contemporary dance in Mato Grosso.
In 2026, the research continues in the data collection stage, with interviews, document collection, photographs, audiovisual records and journalistic articles about the company and its founder.
The work supports the construction of the master's thesis and also dialogues directly with the festival, which in this edition expands the tributes to the artist with the strengthening of the Paulo Medina Dance and Art Award and the creation of new Paulo Medina Special Awards, bringing academic research closer to the cultural extension and dissemination actions developed by UFMT.
Rebuliço Cultural strengthens dance in Mato Grosso The Rebuliço em Dança Festival is held by Rebuliço Cultural MT, a collective created in 2024 by artists Luiz Carlos Bezerra, Anna Flávia Alcântara and Rafaela Gil. Since its creation, the initiative has worked to promote dance through festivals, courses, exchanges and cultural projects, strengthening artistic training and expanding spaces for dancers and groups to circulate in Mato Grosso.
In this third edition, the Rebuliço em Dança Festival brings together more than 250 artists, representatives of 30 schools, groups and companies, coming from Alta Floresta, Campo Novo do Parecis, Cuiabá, Lucas do Rio Verde, Pontes e Lacerda, Rondonópolis, Sapezal, Sinop, Sorriso and Várzea Grande.
Throughout the program, more than 100 choreographies will be presented, distributed between the Commented Exhibition (13 years +) and the Rebulicinho Children's Exhibition, covering modalities such as Repertory Ballet, Neoclassical Ballet, Free Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Jazz Dance, Urban Dances, Belly Dance, Free Dance and Free Style.
Training with nationally renowned professionals In addition to the presentations, the festival offers a training program with workshops taught by nationally recognized professionals, strengthening the technical qualifications of participants. In this edition, guest teachers participate: Stefânia Petry (SP) – Classic Ballet; Érick Silva (SP) – Contemporary Dance; Tiago Barros (PR) – Jazz Dance and Ítalo Ramos (RJ) – Urban Dances.
Researcher, dancer and professor Elka Victorino (MT), PhD from the Postgraduate Program in Contemporary Culture Studies at UFMT (PPGECCO), also participates as a guest artist and member of the evaluation panel. In addition to teaching courses, guests take part in the Commented Exhibition, offering technical and pedagogical feedback to participants.
Awards extend tribute to Paulo Medina The third edition of the Rebuliço em Dança Festival will distribute R$ 8,800 in prizes, in addition to trophies, scholarships, exemptions at partner festivals and gifts.
In the Commented Exhibition (13 years +) the following will be awarded:
Highlight Set – R$2,000;
Featured Choreographer – R$800;
Featured Dancer – R$500;
Outstanding Dancer – R$500;
Paulo Medina Dance and Art Prize – R$ 1,200;
Paulo Medina Special Prize – R$500.
At the Rebulicinho Children's Show, the following will be awarded:
Highlight Set – R$600;
Featured Choreographer – R$400;
Featured Dancer – R$200;
Featured Dancer – R$200;
Three Special Paulo Medina Prizes, worth R$300, R$200 and R$200.
By expanding the awards named after Paulo Medina, the festival reinforces recognition of the choreographer's contribution to Mato Grosso dance and establishes a direct connection with the research developed at UFMT, which investigates his trajectory and the legacy of Cia Vôo Livre de Teatro e Dança.

The presentations take place at the UFMT University Theater:
Saturday (8), at 5pm – Commented Show – Session 1 (solos, variations, duos and trios);
Saturday (8), at 7pm – Commented Show – Session 2 (sets);
Sunday (9), at 4pm – Rebulicinho Children’s Show.
The award ceremonies will be held at the end of the Saturday sessions and the children's show.
