According to the 118th DP, the 29-year-old man's parents contacted the police showing messages and audios sent from their son's cell phone where he claimed to be in captivity and asked for money to be released. The suspects demanded R$5,500 from the parents and girlfriend of the man who presented himself as the victim. The parents reported to the police that he had left home at 8 am to deliver resumes. ? During the contacts, the payment of R$5,500 was demanded for the man's release, in addition to death threats if the amount was not delivered. The messages were forwarded to his father, mother and girlfriend. Agents from the 118th DP located the alleged captivity in a property in Araruama. At the scene, they found the man lying on a bed next to the owner of the residence, aged 43, and another suspect, aged 37. The cell phone used to send the messages had the man himself identified as the victim. According to the Civil Police, the three admitted to having consumed cocaine at the property. According to the agents, the circumstances and the elements gathered confirmed that there was no kidnapping, but rather an extortion attempt. The three were taken to the 118th DP and charged red-handed. Police did not release the names of the suspects.
