According to the police, Ezenilson went to the residence to ask Francisco, who was a pastor and his former father-in-law, for money. The suspect would have contracted a debt with loan sharks. According to the police chief, there was a disagreement after Francisco refused to hand over more money to the suspect. "[They] had a disagreement because this pastor didn't want to give him more money and, according to him, he lost his head and killed this pastor in his own room," said Cunha. The area was isolated for forensic work. The Legal Medical Institute (IML) and the Technical-Scientific Police Department (DPTC) were called for the procedures. The fourth victim was rescued by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and taken to João Lúcio Hospital and Emergency Room.
