Survivor of massacre in Manaus leaves ICU, but remains under medical care

Military police at the door of the house where three people were murdered in Manaus. Rede Amazônica Dilma Cilene Lima Sampaio, 54 years old, survivor of the massacre that left three people dead in Manaus, was discharged from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). She had been hospitalized since Monday (17), when she was hit during the attack in the São Jorge neighborhood, Central-South Zone of the capital. According to the State Department of Health of Amazonas (SES-AM), Dilma is now in the infirmary of a health unit in the capital of Amazonas. She remains under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team from the state network. The massacre took place last Monday morning (17). Francisco das Chagas Morais Santos, aged 66, Isabella Coelho Morais, aged 29, and Guilherme Pereira Lima Filho, aged 65, died. The main suspect in the crime, Ezenilson Silva de Sousa, was arrested on Monday. Dilma was the fourth person hit during the attack and was seriously injured. How the massacre happened The massacre took place on Monday morning (17), in a residence in the São Geraldo neighborhood. According to the investigation, Ezenilson arrived at the property at around 5:30 am, parked a motorcycle in front of the house and jumped over the wall. The objective was to ask one of the victims for money to pay off a debt of R$19,000 with loan sharks. He remained there for around two hours and left the residence around 7am. During this period, three people were killed and one woman was injured. The fourth victim, identified only as Dilma, was rescued and taken to João Lúcio Hospital and Emergency Room, in the East Zone of Manaus. According to the police, Ezenilson went to the residence to ask Francisco, who was a pastor and his former father-in-law, for money. The suspect would have contracted a debt with loan sharks. According to the police chief, there was a disagreement after Francisco refused to hand over more money to the suspect. "[They] had a disagreement because this pastor didn't want to give him more money and, according to him, he lost his head and killed this pastor in his own room," said Cunha. Two were in a bedroom and the third, in the hallway of the house. A resident found the victims and called the Military Police via number 190. The police went to the address and confirmed the crime. The area was isolated for forensic work. The Legal Medical Institute (IML) and the Technical-Scientific Police Department (DPTC) were called for the procedures. The fourth victim was rescued by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and taken to João Lúcio Hospital and Emergency Room.
