The decision was announced on Wednesday night (5) by the party's state leadership, in alignment with the party's national command.
This is the first election without names for federal and the first under Janaina's command, ending a cycle of around 30 years in which the party was led by former federal deputy, Carlos Bezerra.
The setback in the proportional dispute for the Chamber occurs after the MDB lost its main name. During the party window, federal deputy Juarez Costa left the party and joined the Republicans, emptying the party's project into the federal bench.
He was the MDB's main vote-getter for the Chamber and the party's main bet to maintain representation on the federal bench. In the 2022 elections, Juarez was elected federal deputy with 77,528 votes, being the 4th most voted federal deputy in the State.
In a statement, the party stated that withdrawing from the ticket would be a strategy that takes into account the current scenario of the MDB in Mato Grosso and the need to strengthen its institutional presence in the State.
“Faced with this scenario, the party will concentrate its investments on candidacies for the Federal Senate and the Legislative Assembly, a strategy that will allow it to expand its political presence and strengthen its institutional performance in the 2026 elections”, informed the party.
