Born in Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, on October 19, 1934, Glória moved to São Paulo at the age of six and pursued a career in the capital of São Paulo. Despite not having completed the course, the actress can be considered a USPian. She entered the School of Dramatic Art at the University of São Paulo (USP) and, there, founded the amateur theater group Jovens Independentes.
Even without having completed her studies, Glória was immortalized in the history of Brazilian audiovisual in the first years of her career. In 1962, he starred in the film "O Pagador de Promessas", by Anselmo Duarte, the first and only Brazilian feature film to win the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
A pioneer, Glória starred in the first daily soap opera on Brazilian TV, "2-5499 Ocupado", in 1963, on TV Excelsior, alongside Tarcísio Meira (1935-2021). The two met in 1959 and married in 1962, leading to one of the longest-lasting marriages between Brazilian artists.
Before meeting Tarcísio, however, Glória married a cousin at the age of 18, in a union arranged by the family. From the marriage, which lasted a few years, the actress's first two children were born, João Paulo and Maria Amélia. The youngest, Tarcísio Filho, is the result of his second marriage.
