Find out what to do in case of extreme weather according to the Civil Defense Rio Grande do Sul is under warning from the Civil Defense for the risk of storms, hail, wind and favorable conditions for the formation of tornadoes until the weekend. The most critical period for instability in the state occurs between Friday night (17) and Saturday (18). While cities like Eldorado do Sul, in the Porto Alegre Metropolitan Region, are still recovering from last weekend's storms, the state is preparing for the arrival of more rain. The change in weather will be caused by a cold front forming in Argentina, which will advance over the Rio Grande do Sul territory. The forecast indicates winds of up to 90 km/h in areas without rain and gusts exceeding this mark during precipitation. The atmosphere also presents favorable conditions for the formation of tornadoes between Friday and Saturday. According to Climatempo Meteorologia, this Thursday (16), the rain begins in the Western Border, Campanha and South of RS. In Uruguaiana, the forecast for the morning is 60 millimeters of precipitation and winds of 90 km/h, with temperatures that can reach 27°C. In the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre, the weather remains firm and with rising temperatures before the arrival of the cold front, with thermometers measuring between 11°C and 27°C. The condition favors an environment conducive to the development of severe storms between the afternoon and evening. In the Northern Half, the forecast is for intense wind, capable of causing falling branches, roofing and disruption to the electrical network. A more organized line of storms will advance over Gaucho territory. The storms hit practically the entire southern half, West, Campaign, Missions, Northwest, Center, Costa Doce, Coast, Valleys and Metropolitan Region. There is a high risk of hail, windstorms, lightning and heavy rain throughout the day. The volumes vary between 30 and 80 millimeters, and can exceed 100 mm in points in the Campaign, West and South. The wind must be between 70 and 80 km/h, even outside the storm areas. There is a high risk of flooding, flash floods and rapid elevation of watercourses. On Sunday (19), instability continues and there will still be effects due to accumulated precipitation. Over the weekend, some municipalities in the center-west of Rio Grande do Sul could accumulate up to 200 mm of rain.
