JORGE ABREUSÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) - A civil police officer responded to an attempted robbery in traffic and shot a suspect, who was hit in the leg and ended up arrested. The case happened on Friday night (14), in the Itaim Bibi neighborhood, in the south zone of São Paulo.

The man was taken to Hospital São Paulo, where he remains hospitalized under police escort. Three other suspects, including a teenager, who were believed to be with him in the crime, fled, but were found by the Military Police. The suspects' names were not released.

According to the SSP (São Paulo Public Security Secretariat), the four surrounded the police officer's car that was traveling along Engenheiro Luís Carlos Berrini Avenue and announced the robbery. The police officer then responded with gunfire.

The police reported, in a police report, that they seized two pistols, a simulated firearm, chargers and cell phones. The case was registered as robbery, resistance and bodily injury in the 96th DP (Monções). Police pursuit

In the early hours of the same day, the south zone of the capital recorded another case of shooting with a teenage suspect shot, this time, after a police chase. He was riding a motorcycle when he disobeyed a stop order.

According to the PM, the teams approached two motorcycles, with two drivers and two passengers, and observed an exchange of objects between them, which appeared to be a firearm. The chase reached Morumbi Avenue, when the shooting occurred.

"One of the motorcycles managed to escape, while the other was followed along Avenida Engenheiro Luís Carlos Berrini and, later, along Avenida Chucri Zaidan, where it traveled in the opposite direction, until Avenida Morumbi, where there was a confrontation", says the police, in a statement.

According to the SSP, the 17-year-old driver of the motorcycle was shot in the leg after trying to escape. He was taken to the Campo Limpo Emergency Room. The passenger was detained. Their names were not released.
