The crime
According to the Military Police, Ana Cristina's son, just 3 years old, was in the house at the time his mother was shot and was found alone at the scene.

Inside the house, the man found Ana Cristina lying on the floor, bleeding heavily from her head and face. He put her in his arms and, with the help of a neighbor and the young woman's brother, took her to the Cuiabá Municipal Hospital (HMC). Subsequently, the young woman's death was confirmed.
Residents told police that the victim and her boyfriend argued during the night. At around 6:30 am, neighbors heard a noise similar to a gunshot and, shortly afterwards, saw the suspect leaving the house on a black motorcycle.
According to the delegate, the relationship between Ana Cristina and the suspect had started about two weeks ago. The police received information that the two were in conflict and that the young woman intended to resume her relationship with her ex-partner.

Ana Cristina's death is the 31st femicide recorded in Mato Grosso in 2026. Until this Friday (14), the state had recorded 30 victims of this type of crime this year, according to data from the Caliandra Observatory, from the Public Ministry of Mato Grosso (MPMT). Ana left two children.
