New commander takes over 30th BPM in Teresópolis after wave of violence

PM Battalion in Teresópolis has new commander The 30th Military Police Battalion (30th BPM) of Teresópolis is under new command amid a wave of violence recorded in the city. Lieutenant Colonel Rodrigo Ferreira Moreira took over the unit this Thursday (13), replacing Colonel Christoph, who left the position after a year and began working at the Government Secretariat. The change comes after violent episodes that drew attention in Teresópolis, such as the shooting of an app driver in Barra do Imbuí and the murder recorded in the Beira Linha region. Despite recent events, the results of Christoph's time at the battalion were considered positive. In the first half of 2026, the unit achieved the goals defined by the Public Security Institute (ISP), achieving 120% performance in the analyzed indicators. ? The new commander, Rodrigo Moreira, highlighted the continuity of the work and the challenges that lie ahead: “We will work to maintain the peace and safety of the good people of Teresópolis, continuing the good work of Colonel Christoph and carrying out new actions that are necessary to maintain order and tranquility in the area”, said the lieutenant colonel. Moreira, who was on the General Staff of the Military Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PMERJ) previously commanded the 11th BPM, in Nova Friburgo, headed the Specialized Rondas and Crowd Control Battalion (Recom), was deputy commander of the 39th BPM, in Belford Roxo, and director of the Central Ammunition Depot (DCMUN).
