Municipalities in Alto do Rio Paraguay strengthen inspection services and prepare agribusinesses for new markets

The workshops are part of a state training schedule that aims to guide municipal teams in implementing the necessary procedures to improve inspection services and adapt to the requirements for joining the SISBI-POA. Integration into the system allows products to be commercially expanded to other locations, and can be sold throughout the national territory, as long as the municipal service is recognized as equivalent to the federal system.

The president of AMM, Hemerson Maninho, highlighted the importance of technical events to expand commercialization opportunities for agro-industries and strengthen the municipalities' economy. "Improving Municipal Inspection Services is essential to guarantee greater safety for products of animal origin and create new possibilities for local producers. With prepared teams and structured services, municipalities can support the growth of agro-industries and stimulate income generation in rural areas", he stated.

AMM's Family Farming Manager, Nathacha de Carvalho, one of the course instructors, highlighted the importance of the technical preparation of municipal teams for the consolidation of Inspection Services. “We are assisting municipalities in applying the instruments built in the first stage, clarifying doubts and providing guidance on the procedures necessary for services to function efficiently and in accordance with legislation”, he highlighted.

The mayor of Nova Marilândia and president of the Alto do Rio Paraguai consortium, Jefferson Souto, emphasized the importance of AMM's technical support for strengthening family farming and improving municipal management. "AMM has been a great partner for the municipalities. In Nova Marilândia, we had very important support from the institution to advance in the acquisitions of family farming, with information, knowledge and technical analysis, which are fundamental for the municipalities to develop efficient work and better serve the population", he pointed out.

The mayor of Santo Afonso, Luiz Fernando Falcão, said that joining Sisbi will contribute to the legality of products that are sold by small-scale rural producers. "This way the products will gain in value and quality. The producer will improve his income and economy. We congratulate AMM, the consortium and all those who are committed to ensuring the strengthening of family farming in the state", he highlighted.

Technical cooperation agreement – ??To strengthen and standardize the Municipal Inspection Services (SIM) in the municipalities of Mato Grosso, AMM and MAPA signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement during the meeting in Tangará da Serra. The partnership provides technical and legal support, in addition to training and workshops for the CONSIM-MT Project – 2nd Phase, aimed at training municipalities, safety of products of animal origin and strengthening local agro-industries.

General Assembly – The participating mayors also met in a general assembly to approve changes to the statute of the Intermunicipal Consortium for Economic, Social, Environmental and Tourist Development of Alto do Rio Paraguay, with the inclusion of Municipal Inspection Services (SIM) among its areas of activity. The measure seeks to strengthen the structure of services and expand marketing opportunities for small producers, who will be able to access new markets among the consortium municipalities. The changes should contribute to improving the quality of products, strengthening local agro-industries and offering safer food to the population of the municipalities that are part of the consortium.

Potential for expansion – The structuring of municipal inspection services also opens up new perspectives for strengthening family farming, expanding the possibilities for marketing local products and access for small producers to institutional markets. In 2025, the 13 municipalities in the consortium spent R$28.2 million in food acquisition, considering their own resources and those transferred by the federal government. Of this total, only R$3.6 million was allocated to the purchase of family farming products. The survey shows that, although the resources applied to the acquisition of foodstuffs are significant, the participation of family farming still represents a small portion, indicating the potential for expanding institutional purchases from small producers, with a positive impact on income generation in the countryside and strengthening the local economy.

The event brought together representatives from the municipalities of Alto Paraguai, Arenápolis, Barra do Bugres, Campo Novo do Parecis, Denise, Diamantino, Nortelândia, Nova Marilândia, Nova Maringá, Nova Olímpia, Porto Estrela, Santo Afonso and Tangará da Serra.

The next technical workshops will be held in September in the municipalities of Porto Alegre do Norte, São Félix do Araguaia, Nova Monte Verde and Colíder.
